OVERVIEW
A safari to Mikumi National Park in Tanzania, staying at Stanley’s Kopje Lodge
Stanley’s Kopje is set up high on a rocky out crop (kopje) with views over the surrounding Mikumi wilderness, in the Mikumi National Park.
For safety, Maasai guides take guests on short walking safaris between their rooms and other camp areas.

Stanley’s Kopje is the only camp in Mikumi National Park located on a rocky kopje on the Mkata flood plain, overlooking the Mwanamboga waterhole.
12 tents are spaced around the lower part of the hill, with stunning views across the plains. The tents are pitched on high wooden platforms with traditionally built thatched roofs which provide shade from the sun while you sit on your veranda and enjoy the game around the camp.
The nearby waterhole enables game viewing within sight of the camp while the Mwanamboga area is generally regarded as the best region within the Mikumi National Park for game viewing.

ACCOMMODATION
The 12 large Meru-style want in safari tents generously spaced around the rocky kopje.
The tents are pitched on high wooden platforms overlookng the water hole and plains, with thatched roofs that provide shade from the sun while you sit on your veranda and enjoy the game viewing around the camp.

STANLEY’S KOPJE SAFARI CAMP
WINE & DINE
The main tented banda area of Stanley’s Kopje Safari Camp, sits at the crest of the hill with panormaric views of the plains below.
Built in typical Swahili style, the dining banda surrounds a central bar, with sitting and dining areas in all directions over the plains.
A little below this building is a shaded sitting area next to the swimming pool, from where you can cool off in the heat of the day, whilst continuing with game viewing from the pool's edge.

BEST TIME TO GO
The dry season between June to end November has the higher concentrations of game. The camp remains open until the end of February, reopening again 1st June each year. Once the rains break the park will turn green and lush quite quickly – beautiful.
