There is abundant birdlife in this mangrove region as well as beautiful, unspoilt beaches to be explored.

Beautiful white beaches, completely deserted and only for the lodge.

Fishing
Deep sea, estuary and fly fishing available.
Two 31-foot fishing boats are perfect for a variety of types of Deep-sea fishing. Most commonly being Mackerel, Cuta, King Fish, Queen fish as well as seasonal Marlin and Sailfish. These fish can be caught using a variety of different techniques, i.e. lure, fly, jigging and bait fishing.
Govuro River estuary offers many species of fish for light tackle fishing and fly fishing.

Rio Azul Lodge sells items such as batteries, sun block, fishing shirts, sunglasses, hats, lures, line and other fishing tackle.
The lodge has electricity supplied by a generator and plug points for charging camera batteries, laptops, etc.

8 Thatched Beach Chalets
Standard Thatched Chalets (6)
Accommodation consists of 6 thatched rooms with twin, three quarter beds and en-suite bathrooms with sublime views over the estuary.
Each is a private little get away of its own, while still being close enough to provide easy access to the rest of the lodge.
Each room has a wooden deck overlooking the estuary. All of them are equipped with fans, electrical sockets, mosquitonets, en-suit showers, twin basins, night lamps and full cupboards.
Luxury Villas
There are also two luxury villas which sleep six adults and six children.
Each villa has its own swimming pool and is situated along pristine beach shores.
Each room has two hand wash basins with mirrors, a toilet and a shower with hot and cold water. Each room has its own boat for use in the estuary.
The main lodge area consists of a lounge, dining room and bar area with a big wooden deck in front and a plunge pool.
The Villa is divided into 3 rooms sleeping 6 adults, which are all en-suite. The Villa also has a loft with beds for up to 6 children.
Electrical plug-points, fans, mosquito nets, night lamps and full cupboards are all standard.

Dining at Rio Azul is a delightful affair with the freshest ingredients locally sourced and produced, or grown in their own vegetable and herb garden, as well as straight from the sea.
Expect Mozambican specialties such as peri-peri chicken and freshly caught prawns.
Dinners in particular are always a delightful experience and can vary between relaxed and informal evenings, romantic and candle lit affairs, as well as lively beach BBQs.
