Pemba Island is like a lost world. No cars, no noise, no other yachts and very few tourists.
Pemba Island, lying 50km north of Zanzibar off the coast of east Africa, is a true island, rising sheer from great depth and topped with gentle, undulating hills and deep verdant valleys covered with dense clove, coconut and mango plantations.
Pemba only has three beach resorts on the whole island, so you won’t be surrounded by lots of holiday-makers on a "beach" holiday. Because of this ‘exclusivity’, Pemba Island remains a pristine tropical wilderness and this extends to the surrounding marine environment too.
There are beautiful outlying islands off Pemba that remain completely untouched. Spending time on a yacht in these waters is superb and you can sometimes have the whole place practically to yourself.
The ocean is among the richest and most exciting in the world and home to thousands of species of tropical fish and other exotic marine life. Around 180 species of coral have been found present in the Zanzibar Islands and among them Pemba has examples of almost all coral species to be found in Africa.

The main cruise areas around Pemba are to its more protected south and west coastline.
Off the main island of Pemba are a 15 smaller islands and islets. Some are inhabited by local fishermen and subsistence farmers and are interesting places.

Kashani, Kokota, Funzi, Matumbini which is an islet with dense mangrove forest and rich coral reef as well as Misali Island which has a rich coral reef, and has been declared a marine reserve.

The Fishing Seasons take place with the Tuna season running from August to October.

Large Tuna can reach up to 100 kg’s, with many schools of 50 kg Tuna still migrating through our waters.

The Tuna are followed by the big Marlin. Large Black and Blue Marlin are caught in September till December whilst our main Striped Marlin season runs from December through to March.

Furthermore, our Billfish season for Marlin and Sailfish runs from November till March.

Of course, in between, the Game Fish are always there.

Additionally, September produces some fantastic Wahoo fishing as well as February and March.
